The Cathedral and Castle are close by the River Medway. Also there is the Dickens Museum and there are several Dickensian Weekends throughout the year, including Christmas Shopping and in May the Sweeps Festival. MAIDSTONE: The County Town is just three miles away. It can be reached by river bus from the Kent Rural Museum. It has one of the largest collection of Medieval buildings in England grouped around the Archbishops Palace on the river bank. Also renowned for its nightlife with many restaurants, night clubs and cinemas. 'FURTHER AFIELD' ++ CANTERBURY: Can be easily reached by the M2 Motorway. ++ There are many National Trust Properties in Kent, the nearest being IGHTHAM MOAT Gardens open to the public abound, as you would expect in "The Garden of England".
