Pre-Arrival
There is a bus stop 150 yards away in the village centre Serving Maidstone/Rochester and Chatham.
The main train station is 3 miles away by car at Maidstone East. Aylesford Station is a quarter of a mile.
There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required. Place to Place (01622- 791400). We can make a booking for you.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On Arrival to the property there are double entrance gates, these are open 24 hours when the house is in operation
There are 3 vineyard parking bays plus space for two more cars
The surface is level and gravelled
We can assist guests with luggage
The village is a few minutes walk from the House
The Gardens
The House fronts the river and there is a very gentle slope of gravel and lawn to the river, which has a low hedge. Surrounding the house itself are terraces. The remainder of the Garden at the back is up steps and there are further terraces and slopes, linking in total 14 different small gardens. These are depicted on our website garden page.
Main Entrance and Public Areas – for Wickham Lodge
The front door has one step 7cm high.
The door is a large blue Georgian front door
On entry into our house there is a small hallway 2 by 1 metres, and a corridor 3.1/2 metres long by 1 metre wide
There is wooden flooring throughout this area with sturdy rugs.
There are two further steps up at the end of the corridor to the middle hall which are 19cm high. Leading from this area is the guest drawing room. This is a large room with two entrance doors, one flat at 90cm wide, the other is 88cm wide and there are two step down 20cm and 18cm. Through the middle hall is the back hall with a step up of 16cm
The back hall, between the ground floor bedroom room and the breakfast room is 82cm wide, there is a small step down into the bedroom of 6cm and this door is 74cm wide
The flooring in this hallway is tiled. There is good colour contrast and it is well lit.
There is a further step down into the dining room which is 19cm deep. This room is tiled, there is one large dining table with chairs, some with arms and some without.
There is a rear door to the garden which is 82cm wide and there is no step. From this door there is a wide flat terrace leading round to the cars and front gate.
The stairs are restored old elm with no covering but there is a sturdy bannister. The stairs are 25cm high, 25cm deep and 85cm wide. There are 12 of them.
There is a square gallery landing and the double rooms are off this.
Bedrooms
There are clear photographs of our 3 guest bedrooms on our website www.wickhamlodge.co.uk one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Those on the first floor have flat entrances. The door to the River Room is 76cm wide and the door to the Garden Room is 71cm wide, as is the private Garden Room bathroom door.
Ensuite and Private facilites
River Room: The ensuite shower room with toilet (43cm high) has a small 4cm step into it. The entrance door is 73cm wide. The shower is large and step in (10cm step in) there is a safety rail within it. The wash basin is in the main room in a cabinet shown on the website and stands at 94cm
Garden Room: The room itself has a wash basin 80cm high. The private bathroom also has a basin 80cm high and toilet 43cm high. The rainbath is photographed on the website, it comprises a bath or two different shower facilites.
Terrace Room: ensuite shower room with toilet, the door entrance is flat and 64cm wide. There is a small basin which stands at 85cm, the toilet is 43cm high. There is a large shower with a 5cm rim step into it and a safety rail is in place.

Wireless is available in all rooms. There is also Freeview Flat Screen TV’s with remote controls.
There is an emergency bell located on the ground floor to the left of the Terrace Room and on the first floor between the Garden and River room which rings in the Owners room.
The House has four doors to the outside. In the need of evacuation, the doorbell will ring continuously and we will alert guests. If there is a need for more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing/visual impairment. Throughout the house fire extinguishers are strategically placed and there is a smoke alarm on the landing.
We are a no smoking building (smoking is allowed outside- please ask).
We supply fridges in small cupboards in the Garden/River rooms where there is water/soft drinks and can be used for medication/food and we can put larger items in our main fridge on request (not available 24 Hours).
The Terrace room has a cool box and larger items may be kept in our main fridge.
Accommodation at Stable Cottage
Steps up to entrance: 16cm and 20cm . Entrance door width 98cm.
Kitchen/Diner with level tiled floor, old Manger Post with gap of 60cm.
Open bannister stairs to sitting room: width 63cm, tread depth 20cm.
Small corridor off kitchen on ground floor to sleeping accommodation: entrance door: 70cm – step up: 7cm
Shower room off corridor: entrance: 63cm – slight rise to floor 2cm -
large shower cubicle with safety rail – step up 28cm – basin 83cm. toilet height 44cm
Bedroom: Entrance door 74cm – slight rise to floor 2cm
Bathroom (ensuite) off bedroom: Entrance door 65cm – slight rise to floor2cm – bath with tiled shower and safety rail – step up to bath 55cm – basin height 87cm – toilet height 44cm.

Wireless is available. There is also Sky TV reception – the main set is upstairs in the sitting room – with a magic eye connection to the bedroom. There are remote controls plus video and DVD player.
